1 -  Can I add salt / seasoning with the rice before cooking ?

You can add salt and seasoning to the water to give the rice a better taste.

2 -  Can I put the removable non-stick bowl, lid and accessories in the dishwasher ?

Yes, but be careful not to damage the bowl's non-stick coating on the dishwasher racks when you place it into the machine. After several washes in the dishwasher, you will need to renew the bowl's non-stick surface. It is recommended to wipe the whole of the inner surface of the bowl with a little oil.

3 -  Can I steam food in my Tefal rice cooker?

Yes. Pour water into the bowl and sit the ingredients on the steam accessory. You can even cook rice while steaming food at the same time. With the Tefal rice cooker, you can cook a complete meal in one go.

4 -  Do I have to stay in my kitchen while my food is cooking ?

No, you do not have to monitor your rice cooker. Simply press the 'cook' or 'keep warm' button and leave it.

5 - How does a Tefal rice cooker work?

The appliance heats the water up to 100 degrees, which allows to cook water or to steam. Once there is no more water in the pot, the product switches automatically from the cooking to the keep warm heating element. The independent keep warm heating element saves energy during the keep warm phase by using only a few watts.

6 -  I have scratched my bowl. Is this dangerous? Do I have to change it ?

The brown marks and scratches that may appear after many hours' use are not a problem. We guarantee that the non-stick coating complied with the rules on materials suitable for contact with food. We advise you to use a plastic or wooden spoon (not a metal one) to avoid damaging the bowl's surface. To avoid any further damage to the non-stick coating, it is recommended not to cut food in it.

7 -  I want to cook rice for 5 people, how many cups of rice do I need? What is the right amount of water?

Use the following as a guide:
300g rice - 2 cups - Level of water : 2 - For 2- 4 people
600g rice - 4 cups - Level of water : 4 - For 4- 8 people
900g rice - 6 cups - Level of water : 6 - For 6-12 people
1200g rice - 8 cups - Level of water : 8 - For 8-16 people
1500g rice - 10 cups - Level of water :10 - For 10-20 people

8 -  Rice sticks on the removable non stick bowl.

There is not enough water, so add more water to the rice.

9 -  The heating element does not warm.

Check that there are no foreign objects under the bowl or on the heating element.

10 -  What is the best way to clean my rice cooker?

Use hot water, dishwashing liquid and a sponge to clean the bowl and the lid. Scouring powders and metal sponges are not recommended. If food sticks to the bottom, soak the bowl for a while before washing it. Dry the bowl carefully and do not immerse the appliance in water. Only pour water into the bowl.
